Welcome. Come on in.
Here’s a brief idea of what’s happening on this site so far.
Once upon a blog: Things Above
Once upon a blog: Things Above
Several years ago I began researching the topic of the biblical Heaven while trying to deal with grief. To my surprise, I didn’t really know much about what the Bible said regarding Heaven—even though I’d been reading it most of my life. It turned out to be one of the most interesting topics I’ve ever studied, and it quickly became my favorite to explore. One day my daughter asked me to talk to friends in her college dorm concerning Heaven, grief, and the biblical view of the afterlife. That led to other invitations to talk about it. Over time the talk developed into a more formal study, expanded into multiple lessons, and then a Heaven Bible study series. I have learned such precious things about Heaven. I love sharing them and thought I might write about some of those things here. I hope it encourages you.
If you would like to know a little more about how I became fascinated with eternal things, you will find it in the Intro-Triptych: Flannelgraph Heaven, Unglued, and The Things Above.
About K.J. Doogan
KJ Doogan married the cute Tolkien-obsessed boy who lived next door several decades ago. They now have adult daughters who are occupied in various stages of postgraduate degrees, and one little one in Heaven. Over the years she worked in Christian camping and youth ministry, then later transitioned into women’s ministry. Currently she is working on a double major in creative writing and biblical studies. Fortunately for her husband, he still enjoys spending his spare time with his old friend Tolkien—because the rest of his family are preoccupied trying to finish their homework.
After school you might find KJ knitting badly, experimenting with paints and canvas, or growing heirloom tomatoes—the delight of neighborhood squirrels. She obsessively collects Parma violets, books she has every intention of someday reading, and stray animals. KJ loves to travel with family and spends an inordinate amount of time searching for signs of a Yellow Brick Road—in this life and the life to come. And she always totes her little dog too.
